Elmms provides one – off or regular garden maintenance undertaking a range of horticultural tasks to meet the customer’s requirements for lawns, borders, hedges and paths at the right time of year and in the correct way.

Elmms utilises their own equipment with either petrol or rechargeable battery powered machinery and a range of hand tools suitable for good horticultural practices.
Lawns

Garden maintenance can include the regular cutting of lawns and their edges to keep that neat and tidy appearance throughout the year. Edging lawns also prevents grass species from creeping out from lawns and growing within adjoining features.
Borders
Borders soon start to get weeds growing in them.Regular cultivation using a garden fork for perennial weeds and a hoe for annual weeds keeps borders clean and weed free.
Maintenance of borders is also a regular task to keep these areas weed free. Depending on the type of weed be it annual or perennial the use of correct hand tools with help to keep weeds at bay.
Hedges
Hedges are also maintained at the appropriate time of year and considerate to nesting birds.

Caring for plants
Caring for customer’s plants is undertaken at the correct time of year, depending on the plant type and its needs.

Started my horticultural journey at the age of four helping my Aunt in her garden and by six had grown my first flowers from seed being an orange variety of French Marigold ( I will never forget the aroma given off when handling those plants just the same as you grow today!)
At the age of ten I was spending most of my school holidays helping the gardener at Bodrhyddan Hall (https://www.bodrhyddan.co.uk) near Dyserth in North Wales and even more so spending a whole year there in 1975 to Summer 1976 on work experience prior to my three year horticulture course at Lancashire College of Horticulture and Agriculture, at Myerscough. Thank you Lord Langford for helping me and giving me the opportunity to gain my knowledge through work experience!
On successfully completing my OND in Amenity Horticulture I then ended up employed by St. Helens Council, climbing the career ladder in various management roles within the horticultural umbrella.
At 56 became redundant, or as I put it, 'detrop' or unwanted, so then being unable to regain employment, decided to set up my own business, Elmms in August 2015.
Relocated from the north west to North Yorkshire in September 2017.
Starting again in a new area has enabled me to deliver all my skills, knowledge, experience and understanding to this super area within England.
I am so fortunate to be doing this!
And so, my journey continues!
